Seven TranScan FAQS
The TranScan display shows -50C but my fridge is not capable of achieving such a low temperature. Is the recorder reading incorrectly?
TranScan recorders use resistive sensors called thermistors and the range of the instrument is -50C to +50C. When the sensor is not connected or the cable is broken or damaged (open circuit) then the recorder will display -50C or --.
Similarly if the recorder input is shorted then the display will show +50C or ++. The most likely cause of a reading of -50C or -- is therefore a faulty connection.
