Seven Limited the privately owned logistics support services group based in Ipswich Suffolk has acquired Cold Chain Instruments Ltd (CCI) Worthing based manufacturer of the TranScan range of temperature recording devices.
CCI is a European market leader in onboard vehicle temperature recorders for the refrigerated transport industry and the range of products offered under the TranScan brand name has recently been enhanced to include internet based data collection and satellite positioning systems.
Seven Eye, the vehicle tracking and temperature monitoring arm of the Seven Group, has developed its satellite location system in two areas, as an advanced vehicle tracking device 'Asset Track' and also in the development of its Seven Eye satellite tracking and temperature monitoring system 'Cool Track'.
It is in this area that the synergies between the two companies exist. Through combining the knowledge and expertise of the two organisations, the Seven Board of Directors believe it will be in the best position to build on the respective market shares and offer an enhanced product portfolio to the refrigerated transport and cold storage industry.
Roy Dunnett Chairman of Seven commented 'Seven have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the logistics industry in general and specifically in the temperature controlled market. We see the TranScan acquisition as a major step forward for the Seven business and one that will allow the combination of the two businesses to exceed either company's individual potential.'
He added, 'The TranScan brand name is renowned for the quality of its products, its on-time deliveries and its highly professional and customer focused after-sales service and the same dedicated staff who have provided these services over many years will continue to do so, in the same location, under Seven's ownership. Our objectives are to continue to support and invest in the TranScan infrastructure and extend the range of products where possible'.
Commenting for the former owners of CCI, Mel Pye MD added 'We are delighted that we have been able to conclude the sale of the TranScan business to a company of Seven's standing in the industry. TranScan is very successful and has been built on similar values to the Seven organisation'.
