Seven in acquisition mood
Seven the privately owned logistics support services group based in Ipswich has acquired H J Calver Limited the Felixstowe based container transport company for an undisclosed sum.
H J Calver's was formed by Herbert John Calver in 1948 in Wilby, Suffolk and moved to Stradbroke during the 1960's. In the 1970's an additional depot in Felixstowe was established. The business grew during the 58 years since inception and today operates more than 50 articulated tractor units.
Trevor Kerry, the former owner of H J Calver commented, 'We are delighted that we have been able to conclude the sale of the business to a company of Seven's standing in the industry. The H J Calver brand name is renowned for the quality of its service and I firmly believe under Seven's ownership it will continue to uphold and enhance these values'.
Roy Dunnett, Chairman of Seven commented, 'Seven have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the logistics industry in general and specifically in container transport. We see this acquisition as a major step forward for the Seven business and one that will allow the combination of the two businesses to exceed the companies individual expectations'.
Seven Lincs operates in the same container and trailer industry sector. The business has reached a stage where it wishes to expand its operations beyond the level organic growth alone permits. There are significant synergies between the two companies and through combining the knowledge and expertise, the two organisations will be in the best position to build on the market share and offer enhanced services.
